This design was tricky to create, with flower and leaf. Initially, I had planned the word "resist" on the leaf, but as there was no way to clearly fit the "r", i opted to attach it to the flower herself. To me, it reads well and, even more, because they're separate, movable elements, it makes me to a double-take, to be sure of what I saw (meaning, I suspect you'll get quite a few double-takes and have some good conversations over those who see the word). I love the beautiful petals of the leaves, highly textured and full of soft curves.
In the middle of the flowers are Ethiopian opals with, as much as I could find in my stock, pinks and warm hues within them. Trust me when I say they don't photograph half as beautifully as they appear in person. The three-leaf stem dangles below, adding to the dog rose appearance (If you see them in person, you'll always see leaves in threes).
Each letter was hand-sawn, then individually placed and soldered onto the leaves. This is a very time-consuming process, but one worth the outcome.
These earrings weigh approximately 5 grams each and measure approximately 2.90" from the top of the ear wire. Note measurements are approximations.
If you are rough on your jewelry, you will want to treat this with gentle care. While sturdy, elements should never been twisted, torqued, bent, or pulled/yanked.
All of my work, unless copper or brass (you'd see the difference), is 0.925 sterling silver.
